SO . . . HERE I GO

I was recently asked, "do you have a blog?" to which I quickly answered NO. I was thinking about that all the next day - why would I have a blog? who the heck would want to hear what I have to say? what WOULD i say?

Then, a friend of mine shared with me that she really valued my ideas and opinions. To which I wondered - WHY? I have NO idea what I am doing most of the time and I tend to be ALL ideas and no follow through most days.

Well, I figure, if there is someone out there in the same place I am. . . and something that works for our house helps them, then maybe I can share something.

SO . . . HERE I GO . . .

Since giving up Facebook for lent, I have felt a void during my morning coffee and quiet time (which is when I would stalk, I mean check, my facebook). I have always had a bookmark folder full of blogs I have been meaning to get around to so I decided to get to it. WOW, what an eye opener this has been! There are so many amazing links, recipes and self improvement ideas out there - many of which have come from stay at home moms like me.

The stay at home thing (though I am going on 5 years now) is still somewhat new - my mother worked full time. Not that was right or wrong - just different from my current call in life. My parents had two kids 7 1/2 years apart - we have four in 6 years. The gap between my oldest and youngest is LESS than the one between my sister and I.

I have no doubts that this is what I am called to do right now - stay at home and raise our children but - I FEEL LIKE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING! Hence the reason I use the phrase "ON THE FLY" a lot. That is pretty much how things are done around here!

  1. hello, my name is simone and i just found your blog through the orgjunkie. I love what I've read so far, especially the introduction! Always nice to meet someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously ;-) I get overly excited too when it comes to organising and all its gadgets so I will be popping in again ;)

  2. Welcome to blogging! It's addicting. ;) A great outlet.
And what a way to get started, by having Laura (or junkie) highlight you! Kudos!

  3. Welcome to the blogging world! I bet you'd never believe in the first few days you'd be inundated with strangers reading your blog!! HA ha! Laura at OrgJunkie has lots of readers, so I bet more of us come your way. Your kid closets are uber cool. I wish we had no closet instead of our dinky ones so I could do your closet tricks!

  4. Welcome to blogging! I, too, came to your blog via Laura at OrgJunkie. :) I have been a SAHM for 30 years (sheesh, that makes me feel old!). My first four were 8 years apart, youngest to oldest. They have all flown the nest, but I have a 12 year old at home and she fills the big space left by her sibs. They, of course, say she gets to do all sorts of things they were never allowed to do, but that's another story...

Keep on keepin' on and life will work out. Of course, lots of prayer and help from those who love you helps, too. :) You are doing a great job, teaching your children about being organized in the day to day things. They will build on that. Relax and enjoy the journey. It passes too quickly while we worry about things that don't really matter.

  5. I gave up Facebook for Lent, too, and started blogging around the same time, as well! I guess we are both newbies :-) I will be following you - love your writing style, as well as your love for containers!

  6. I just found you via Ohdeedoh! I'm home with four kids also (ages 1 to 8). We homeschool, so I get to avoid the hectic early morning rush (I am NOT a morning person). I'll be following along and feel free to come by and check us out

  7. So glad you have come to find blogging...I am a stay at home Momma of about 8 years is exhausting and at times isolating, but as your children grown you will see it's rewards. I SO admire your is my weak point and I have really been making an effort as of late to CHANGE that. We have three children and toying with the idea of a fourth...but we live in a SMALL home. Really at this point I don't know where we'll put #4. We intend to add on to our home but so far something has always come up that took priortiy. Anyhow looking forward to all that you have to share! ;)
